A beautiful life came to an end Tuesday, June 4, 2019, when God called Alice West home to live with him forever in that land beyond the sunset. Alice (Granny to many) was born September 27, 1930, in Atkins, Arkansas to the late Paris and Sallie Miles. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, who was loved and will be missed by all. Alice accepted Christ at a young age at Allen Chapel A.ME Church in Atkins, Arkansas. Alice was known for her love of cooking and dancing. Although in her last years, she struggled with Alzheimer's, she still left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She greeted everyone with a smile and a hello.
She was united in holy matrimony to Willie West, Jr. on March 3, 1955, and from that union, Patricia, Annette, and Felicia was born. Alice had three children prior to their union Elmer, Bobbie, and Robert in which Willie loved and raised as his very own. Alice departed this life on May 4, 2019 and was preceded in death by her son Elmer Murphy and daughter Bobbie Gonzales: five sisters: Catherine Embry, Aseline Embry, Florence Ross, Bernice Jones, and Bennie Jones; five brothers: Emmett Miles, Booker Miles, Earl Miles, William Miles and Paris Miles and sister-in-law Linnie Lewis.
Alice leaves to cherish her memories her husband Willie West Jr.; one son Robert Banks of Oakland, CA; three daughters Patricia West and Annette Holmes of Elk Grove, CA and Felicia (Paul) Maxwell of Stockton, CA; three sisters Travestine Ackels of Torrance, CA, Helen Copeland of Richmond, CA and Catherine Nelson of Little Rock, AR; one sister-in-law Molly Roundtree of Las Vegas, NV; one brother-in-law Larry Paschal of Dallas, TX; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
