Joe Louis Causey

July 24, 1935 ~ December 19, 2018 (age 83)

Reverend Joe Louis Causey was born July 24, 1935, to the late John Adams and Rena Mae Causey in Caruthersville, Missouri. Joe passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2018, in Sacramento, California. Joe accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Caruthersville.

 

He and his family moved to Chicago Heights, Illinois in  1952 and then he moved from Chicago Heights to Gary, Indiana in 1953 where he later met and married Mae Ola Deloney. They relocated to Sacramento, California in 1982.

 

Joe attended Washington High School in Caruthersville, Missouri. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1956. Joe had various jobs and later retired from US Steel in Gary, Indiana after many years of service. He attended Shepherd of Life Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member and later served as the interim pastor for a year and a half and then elected as pastor in 1992-1999.

 

Joe loved to travel and communicate with his family and friends on a regular basis. He enjoyed playing his trumpet, organ, harmonica, guitar and his old school music.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents John A. and Rena Mae Causey, his brothers John A. Causey, Jr., Oakley Causey, Sr., and wife Mae Ola Deloney Causey.

 

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters HenryEtta (Willie) Bright-Savage of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rhonda E. Simmons of Glenwood, Illinois, Denise Reed of Madison, Wisconsin, Randall Causey of Arlington, Texas. Grandchildren Lynn Dowdell-Castro of Tampa, Florida, Ernest Dowdell of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dorian T. Simmons of Chicago Heights, Illinois, Markiss Dowdell of Louisville, Kentucky, Rebecca Brown and Quinton Brown both of Madison, Wisconsin, Casie Causey of  Las Vegas, Nevada and Ryan Causey English of Georgia. Sisters Mary Frances (Earl) Wright, Bertha Scott both of Sacramento, California, brothers Rev. Charles Causey of Little Rock, Arkansas, Emmitt (Florene) of Beaumont, California, and Rev. Fate Causey of Hesperia, California and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends Steven and Sherry.
