Larry was born to Louringer and Erma Dunston, on April 28, 1934.
Larry was born and reared in Kittrell, North Carolina, and was the eldest of six children. Larry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, dancing and listening to music. His favorite song to dance to with his dance partner, Momma-Laura, was the ten-minute version of Marvin Gaye’s song, “Got to Give it Up.” They were the life of the party. Larry was a man of few words. However, when he did speak, his words carried great wisdom and insight. Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Lacy and Lee, sister, Artelia May Dunston-Hope, and stepson, Kerry Nixon. Larry is survived by two brothers, Leslie and Alfonso Dunston and their spouses; dearest friend and former spouse, Laura Johnson; step-daughters and daughters, Shelia Briggs, Marshelle Lazaro, Ann Marie “Heather” Dunston-Douet, Nicole Dunston-Weathersby and Lavina “Simone” Dunston; step-son, Andrew Simon; daughter-in-law, Cesley Nixon; three sons-in-law, Dwight Briggs, Ricky Lazaro and LonnellWeathersby; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, cherished extended family and friends.
