Crystal Monique Mayfield

June 4, 1966 ~ November 8, 2019 (age 53)

Crystal Monique Mayfield was born June 4, 1966, in Oakland, California to the proud parents, Earnest C. Mayfield Jr. and Charlotte Mc Clennon-Mayfield.

Crystal was baptized at an early age at St. Bernard Catholic Church. After moving to Sacramento, CA, she united with Paradise Missionary Baptist Church in Sacramento, under the leadership of Pastor Alonzo Morris.

Young Crystal attended St. Bernard Catholic School and Fremont High School in Oakland. Crystal was a determined person in many ways. One of her determinant ways was to get her High School diploma at a later age. She graduated from Adult School in 1999. In 2005 she graduated from High Tech Institute for Pharmacy Technician and received her license. From elementary school to Pharmacy Technology School, she was always at the top of her class or the top student. Lesson Learned: Have Determination.

In 1985 Crystal married Sheldon Dean Smith and to this union, Sheldon Jr. was born in 1988.

In 1995 she gave birth to another son, Daquan. In 1999 she met Steven Hines and the birth of twin girls which she called Baby A (Ashley) and Baby B (Brianna) were born in 2000. She was so proud and exhausted.

From 1984 to 2007 Crystal worked at various jobs while going to school and raising children.

In 1992, she decided that she would leave the Bay Area and move to Sacramento where she remained.

Her Favorites: Colors, pink and blue. The movie, The Five Heartbeats. Foods, Vanilla Ice cream, Boudin Sausage and Gumbo, her own potato salad, and on those'ono cook" days, it was Papa Murphy's Pizza, dancing and music.

She loved her family, her children and grandson (Little Sheldon). Crystal would line dance and listen to music with her children and cousins. She wanted to know all the new dances and in her youth, was a champion Clogging Fold Dancer. She performed at the Oakland Auditorium, Oakland Coliseum and various schools. Crystal was a person who liked to have fun and lots of laughs. Often, she spent time with and looked after her younger cousins, who called her Auntie Crystal. They knew Crystal was a cousin, but Auntie suited her best. This said a lot of the relationship she had with them.

Crystal was preceded to her spiritual home by her son Sheldon Dean Smith Jr., her father Earnest C. Mayfield Jr., her grandfathers Earnest C. Mayfield Sr. and Frank Mc Clennon. Her grandmothers Mildred Linton-Irving and Georgia Harris-Mc Clennon.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Da Quan Barnes, and two daughters, Ashley Hines and Brianna Hines, her mother Charlotte Mayfield-Daniels, stepfather James Daniels, one brother Gregory Mayfield Sr. (Deborah), one sister Kelly Mayfield, one grandson Sheldon D. Smith III, long-time beloved companion Steven Hines, one great aunt Gladys Jenkins, nieces & nephews, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends, and neighbors.
