Dorothy May Louis of Sacramento, California passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at the age of 86.
Mrs.Louis was born on April 28, 1934, the daughter of the late Erain & Suzie Barber.
Dorothy was born and raised in New Orleans. she graduated from Booker T. Washington and eventually moved west to Sacramento, California where she met her soul mate of the past 66 years, Mr. Oscar Louis on May 22, 1954, Dorothy and oscar were united in marriage, with her husband enlisted in the US Air Force, the newlyweds were able to travel around the country.
Dorothy was wonderfully devoted to her four children, Wilma M, Scott, Jane L. Ketchum (Rodney), Janet L Bruce, and Wanda G Smith (Bobby).
Granny, as she was affectionately called, was a loving grandmother to Oscar Ketchum (Halie), Cheron Vance, Tanisha Merciro (Anthony), Tamika Pate (Roy), Jamaal Scott (Gren), Akeem Scott, LaKisha corker (Deron), Michael Smith and Ebony Smith.
Mother Louis was a long time, devoted member of Nash temple Revival center church of God in Christ. Dorothy was the epitome of kindness, lt did not matter what your past was if she knew you for a long time or just met you, one was never a stranger in her eyes, you could count on Dot to make you feel welcomed and loved. Dot loved to sew and cook and if you were fortunate enough, you were able to enjoy some of her home-cooked meals. lf you were lucky, she may even allow you to borrow one of her many watches as she had more watches than one could count!
Whether she was Dorothy, Dot, Mom, Granny, Aunt Dot, or Mother Louis to you, she indeed touched you in some way and will be greatly missed.
Dorothy leaves behind to mourn her passing, her husband oscar Louis, her siblings, Barbara Ann Hogue, Larry, Debra, Louis, Louise, Alfred, Dorris, and Jewel Barber. Her great-grandchildren, Marcel, Ashton Mya, Brea, Dejionna, Unique, Jimmy, Nina, Nathanial, Shayna, Christian, Miracle, Thandiwe, her loving stepmother, Emma Barber, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers Earl, Wilbert, and Ervin Barber, and one beautiful granddaughter, Shanelle Ketchum.
