Doyle J. Williams was born on May 15, 1952, in Oakland, California. He was the oldest son of the late Jonnie Lucille and Walter James Williams. He grew up in a busy, funloving, household with his parents and siblings: LaDonna, Kevin, Yvonne, and David. Doyle attended Oakland Public Schools and graduated from Castlemont High School in 1971. He furthered his education, completing a Construction Apprentice program at Peralta Community College in 1974. In 1991, he joined Drywall Lathers Union Local 68L. He was an exemplary union member who was proud of his contributions to the union. He served in multiple leadership roles until his declining health. For example, for the past decade, he was Vice President of Local 68L. He additionally served as a union board member, a past delegate, a trial committee member, and a member of the Carpenters in Action Committee. As a child growing up, Doyle was very active. He enjoyed exploring his environment and his neighbors’ fruit trees. He was quite a prankster; nothing was off-limits. For example, when having water balloon fights with his siblings he would sometimes fill his balloons with hot water. On another occasion, he gave his younger cousins' bubble bath telling them it was mouthwash. He also secretly put a caterpillar in his mother’s hair while she was washing it and hid in another room as he watched to see how she would react. Doyle loved living life to its fullest. He had a lively and winning personality and a hilarious sense of humor. His infectious laugh would bring levity to all around him. Doyle was a diehard Raiders fan. He enjoyed watching sports, fishing, camping, attending the garlic festival, and making lasting memories with family, friends, and loved ones. He would never miss an event, near or far, when invited. Doyle was a proud and supportive father of two loving children: Shawnda “Neeke” Williams (San Francisco) and Kianna Williams (Berkeley). His children and family were the joy of his life. Every moment spent with loved ones was precious to him. Doyle was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. He was preceded in death by his parents Jonnie and Walter Williams; brother David Shawn Williams and sister Yvonne Rene Williams. He is survived by two daughters, Shawnda “Neeke” Williams and Kianna Williams; two grandchildren: Kevin Foster Jr. and Saanti Woods; one great-grandson: Kevin Foster III; one sister, LaDonna Williams; and one brother, Kevin Williams, and a host of relatives and friends. Although we bid Doyle farewell, fond memories of him will forever linger in our hearts.
