Elvira Green Stewart was born on June 8, 1945, to frank Green and Jessie B. Matthew, in Idabel, Oklahoma. Elvira graduated from Grant Union High School, in Sacramento, California, in the year of 1963. Elvira accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and she faithfully attended the 24th Street Baptist Church for years. She was an integral part of the Women’s Ministry there.
Elvira was blessed with the birth of her son, Terry Anthony Stewart, on June 12, 1970, in Oakland, CA. Elvira worked for the Army Depot, here in Sacramento, CA. She worked there for 25 years as a Senior Quality Control Specialist. Elvira was an avid gardener and loved her Azaleas and Crepe Myrtles. She was also quite handy around the house and loved her home improvement projects.
Elvira departed this life on May 27, 2020. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie B. Myart; and two sisters, Carletta Green and Velma Butler-Franklin. She is survived by two of her uncles, Cotra French and Rayborn French. She is also survived by six sisters; Diana Oliver, Sheila Green, Barbara Nelson, Gloria Peterson, Deborah Giles, and Tanya Henderson; four brothers Roy L. Green, Troy L. Green, Willie R. Matthews, and Robert J. Butler, Jr. She has many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.
