Erma Lee Murphy-Thames was born November 20, 1940, in Pine Bluff Arkansas, To her loving parents Alfonzo Murphy and Earnestine Johnson. She Graduated from Samuel Vaster High School. And soon after moved to Sacramento, California in 1960 where she worked a host of job cleaning and taking care of others until she started working for the State of California in the Department of General Services and Arco Arena. She Retired after 25 years in 2001.
Erma loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age; she became a member at New Testament Baptist Church for many years until she later joined Valley Redemption Baptist Church.
Erma was a very loving and giving person. She was always surrounded by family as she raised her children and many of her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and spending her days on the fishing creek.
Erma took her place to be with the Lord on March 16th, 2020.
Erma is survived by her mother Ernestine Wright, six sisters, five brothers, her son Charles Bell, her daughters Patricia Bell and Valerie Murphy, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.
Erma was preceded in death by her father Alfonzo Murphy and her husband Paul Thames.
