On October 22, 2019, George (Daddy, Deacon, Uncle Buddy) Denson took God's hand and walked through Heaven's gate.
George Cornelius Denson was born to the late Estella (McClanahan) and George Denson on December 2, 1918, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas the oldest of four children all deceased.
George attended school through the 4th grade when he began picking cotton and corn to help support his family. He later worked at Nikells Molding for over 25 years as a transporter and various sawmills in Foresthill, CA.
George married Maxine Hunter and had a son, Floyd Cornelius Denson. George married Jeanette Anderson. Later he married Carrie Jean Murchison also of Arkadelphia. They had five children: Sylvia (Nolan) Jackson, Michael Denson, Vivienne (Neal) Turner, Tyrone Denson and Sheri Denson. Lastly, George married Ora Mae Miles from Loosedale, Mississippi and her 3 children: Jerry (Rhonda) McWilliams, Sharon Hill and Hope (Gary) Cox until she went on to glory.
George's church home was Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church of Sacramento, CA where he was a faithful member since 1959. George loved gospel music and he loved to sing. He used to travel the region extensively spreading the gospel in song. George also sang with several groups such as Rising Stars, Harmony Five, Weary Travelers, Harmonettes, Hummingbirds and Travelers of Faith, just to name a few.
George will be greatly remembered for his sense of eye-catching style and fashions. He always dressed like he just stepped off the cover of GQ Magazine. His favorite foods were sweet potato pie and fried chicken. He loved to fish.
George was preceded in death by Floyd Denson, (son) Anthony Jackson (grandson).
George is survived by the aforementioned children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family and a host of other relatives and friends.
