Glinda Geneva Thomas was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 18th, 1950, to the late Eupene Jr. and Janice Thomas. She grew up with her brother, Linnie Lamberth, and sister Deborah Thomas-Arnold.
Glinda accepted Christ at an early age at Brorvns Memorial AMtr Church in Washington D.C. under the leadership of Rev. Mathison. She lived in a Christian home and was raised to attend and work in the church. When she moved to California with her family in 1963, they joined was Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C.M. Cummings, as a request of her Uncle Lorenzo. Later she moved her membership to Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Willie P. Cooke and then Pastor Anthony Sadler. She was very active in the church. She sung in the Silver Echoes choir, the Sacramento Community Choir, and traveled with Gospel recording artist James Cleveland, was an Usher, and joined the matron auxiliary.
She attended Love Joy Elementary School in Washington D.C. and Empire Jr. High in Cleveland, OH. Later she attended Del Paso Jr. High and graduated from Grant Union High School in Sacramento, CA. At Grant, she was a part of the Drama Club, Pep Club, Red Cross Council and Nursing Club. After graduation, she attended Community College. Her favorite things to do was cooking and sewing. She also worked with her Uncle Lorenzo and Aunt Louise Graves for Triple L Towing. She loved the time she spent at the shop on Dry Creek Rd.
Glinda was employed by McClellan Air Force Base, North Sacramento School District and Mutual Assistance Network (MAN). She loved working and helping others. Her passion was taking care of children and being a Godmother to many!
Glinda was preceded in death by her two boys, Mark Anthony Thomas and Lorenzo Eugene Thomas and her daughter Meredith Renee Clayton. She was a loving and caring mother that gave her all for her twin girls (Sonya and Tonya). She was extremely involved in their academic as well as social lives. She could always be found at their schools volunteering in their classrooms. She was devoted to taking care of her twins and they knew how much she loved them both. Later in life, two families were joined together and she gained a stepfather, Robert L. Wells Sr.
Glinda always faced her life challenges head-on and with the BOLDNESS OF CHRIST!, She departed this earth but never our hearts on June 28th,2020. She leaves to cherish and continue the Legacy she built; her twins Sonya Rhea Clayton of Jonesboro, Ga. and Tonya Rhea Clayton of Fairburn, Ga.; her grandchildren, Marcus Russell Jr. of Fairburn, Ga. and Edvin Hurtada of Jonesboro, Ga., her siblings, Dorothy Holmes of Greensboro, NC, Linnie Lamberth of Sacramento, Ca., Deborah Thomas-Arnold of Sacramento, Ca., Robert L. Wells Jr., & Christina Hetherington both of Florida, Mary Clemon (Samuel), of St. Louis, Mo., Delores Wells of Sacramento, Ca., her Aunts, Theressa B. Graves of Maryland, Mary Jane Graves and Maggie Graves both of Reidsville, NC., great aunt Manetta Walker and Godmother Louise Monroe both of North Carolina, her BtrST friends, Linda Briscoe, Rita Godbold, and Rhonda Baber, a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
