Joseph Biross

September 10, 1925 ~ April 27, 2022 (age 96)

Joseph (Joe) John Biross passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022, at the age of 96. Joe was born in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, and lived a full and eventful life. He was a dedicated husband, father, and friend to many.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1943, becoming a Radioman Second Class, serving on the destroyer USS Raymond during World War II. His military service took him to Hawaii, Guam, and throughout the Pacific before he was honorably discharged in 1946. The medals he received included the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was very proud of his service and loved to share his adventures and stories from that time.

After his tenure in the Navy, he traveled the US, living and working in many states, including Kentucky, Wyoming, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, and New Jersey, before settling in California in 1975. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and exploring California’s backroads. Joe was drawn to the places that were “off the beaten path” and enjoyed discovering new places.

In his final years, he lived at Carlton Senior Living Elk Grove where he spent much of his time socializing with the staff and residents, who he enjoyed very much.

He will be remembered for his infectious smile, positive outlook, and a plethora of life stories he was always happy to share.

At his request, there will not be a service, however, pay it forward with an act of kindness or consider a donation to your charity of choice.

Joe’s family thanks the amazing staff at Carlton Senior Living Elk Grove and Kaiser Hospice for their incredible care, friendship, and support.
