Obituary

Larry Thomas Bennett was born on November 26, 1939, in North Carolina to the union of the late Walter Boston Bennett and Evelyn Thomas Bennett. He attended J.R. Faison High School where he received his diploma. He furthered his education at Sacramento City College in Sacramento, California.

Larry accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was united with West Rocky Road Church in North, Carolina where he served as an usher.

Larry was united in holy matrimony with Marva Jean Austin in Sacramento, California. Their union was blessed with four children Annette Atmore, David Atmore, Deborah Bennett, and Larry Martin Bennett, Jr.

Larry enlisted into the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He was employed by the State of California and the City of Sacramento as a Traffic Engineer for 40 years. Larry owned El Dorado Cars and was known by friends as “El Dorado Larry”. In his leisure, he enjoyed socializing with family and friends and working on cars. He was a member of the SCERS union.

Larry Thomas Bennett departed this life on May 1, 2020, in Sacramento, California. He was preceded in death by his father Walter B. Bennett, Mother Evelyn T. Bennett, bothers Ralph Bennett, Walter Bennett, Jr., and daughter Anette Atmore.

He leaves behind a daughter Debbie Blakemy, son Larry Bennett, Sr., ten grandkids Lynette, Lamont, Charles Jr., David, Augunette, Eboni, Erica, Eshia, Shamya, and Sharena. Five sisters Shirley Mann (Chauncey), Sabrona Jackson (Huie), Mary B. Potts, Devon Bradford, and Tuwanda Malone, one brother Floyd Ledbetter, aunts Jan Parsons, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
