Walter Smith, Jr. was born on November 19, 1951, to the proud parents of Walter Smith, Sr. and Nola Mae Thompson.
As a child, Walter confessed his life to Christ baptized by Pastor W. E. Davis at Log Bayou Missionary Baptist Church in Tillar, Arkansas.
Walter received his education in the Drew County School District, graduating from Desha Central High School. He continued higher education in different fields from drafting to electronics. His last place of employment was AC Transit. Walter entered the US AirForce in 1974, where he excelled in electronics.
In 1970, he moved to Oakland, CA joining his older siblings. In 1977, he was blessed with his daughter Lakeshia Necole Smith-Robinson.
Walter was a family-oriented person who was a quiet spirited man and a loner. He was a man of a few words but if pushed could be quite expressive.
On Tuesday, October 28, 2020, Walter answered his call from God “Come on Home Son”. Walter spent the last 60 days of his life in the home of his daughter and her family where he was cared for by his daughter & son-in-law very patiently and lovingly. He cherished and loved his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. In his sickness, he kept us on our toes and defied the doctors and nature on several occasions. When he lived in Little Rock, Arkansas he enjoyed sitting under the “Lying Tree” and fun times playing dominoes with friends.
Walter was preceded in death by both parents Walter Smith Sr. and Nola Thompson, siblings; Joseph, Jr., David, Nathaniel, Ruthie Lee, Naomi, Ora, Rosie, Charles, Franklin, Willie Mae, Emma Jean, Reola, Stella Mae, and Bertha.
