We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Thompson Rose Chapel
Earl Walton, aka Po Boy, was the fourth child of eleven born to Earl Lee and Ruby Dean Walton on July 12, 1951, in Terrell, Texas. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Fresno, California, and later moved to the city of Ceres. Willie attended Westport Elementary School and graduated from Ceres High School where he was a star athlete. He played football, basketball and set records in track and field. Willie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the Westside Neighborhood Church of God In Christ, under the leadership of Dr. Carlton Wright. He was a faithful member of several churches. Most notably Heights Tabernacle of Praise Church of God In Christ as a founding member under the leadership of the late Pastor Jack Scott. Willie joined the Light Christian Church in April 2019, under the leadership of Pastor O.J. Swanigan. Willie had several occupations including heavy equipment operator, grave digger, Pop Warner Football Coach, tree surgeon, pig farmer, and cross-country truck driver. He was also the gardener for movie producer George Lucas. Willie was a jack of all trades. From sharpening knives, building managers and birdhouses, unbreakable pinatas, working on cars and the list goes on. If you really knew him you would know he loved fishing, watching westerns, growing vegetables, the San Francisco Giants, and the San Francisco Forty-Niners. He also loved to cook. His specialty was Cooked in Jesus Name Barbeque and would often barbeque as a fundraiser for various churches and community events. Willie had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved to witness and tell his testimony. On February 8, 1989, he met the love of his life, Deborah McKinney. He would often say he found out, there was more in Sacramento than the State Capitol. On June 29th of this year, Willie and Deborah celebrated thirty years of marriage. Together they raised four daughters. On November 28, 2021, Willie was called from labor to reward. Willie leaves to cherish his memories: His wife, Deborah Walton; four daughters: Letosha Edmond (Michael), Modesto, California; Ideanna Walton, Michelle Baker, Citrus Heights, California; Wilysha Walton, Seattle, Washington; three brothers: Arthur Walton (LaWanda), Santa Maria, California; Louis Walton, Modesto, California, Jimmie Walton, Dallas, Texas; one sister: Gwennetta Brothern (John), San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren: Tatianna Edmond, Michael Edmond, Mariah Edmond; In-Laws: Ruth McKinney, Helen Walton, David McKinney, Daniel McKinney, and Sheryltha McKinney.
